Zanzibar Gem / Zamioculcas zamiifolia

Common Name / Latin Name

ALUMINIUM PLANT/ PILEA CADIEREI

A species that is practically unkill-able, with lush shiny green upright ridgid fronds of leaves that will fill out the pot. The ZZ Plant is one of the easiest plants you can get! Position - The ZZ plant is very adaptable and can tolerate various lighting conditions, making it a low maintenance plant. Ideally, it prefers bright, indirect light, but it can also survive in low light conditions. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Water - One of the key aspects of caring for a ZZ plant is to water sparingly. This plant is drought-tolerant and can suffer from overwatering, which leads to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Depending on the environment, this usually means watering every 2-4 weeks. During winter months, you might need to water even less frequently. Tips - As a low maintenance plant, the ZZ plant does not require frequent fertilization. Feed it with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength every 6 months during the growing season (spring and summer). ZZ plants grow slowly and do not require frequent repotting. Repotting every 2-3 years is usually sufficient. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid waterlogging the roots. Safety – Be aware that the ZZ plant is toxic if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and children, and wash your hands after handling the plant to avoid skin irritation. Difficulty – Very Easy
